An Out of the Country, Out of this World Road Trip that deserves its own website but here you are and here it is. Welcome to Maria, Perry, Nowell and Surfer Bob’s Excellent China Adventure.
We took a two week trip around China and Hong Kong and really had some fun. China is a HUGE country and we saw about 1% of it. I’m impressed at how much we did and more impressed by how little we did. Surfer Bob was the mascot of the promotional product association I was a member of and I sent the director photos of Bob in the various places to which he went. (When I got back the association had dropped Bob as their mascot in a copyright dispute. Regardless, Surfer Bob went to some amazing places.)
Until you go to China, you cannot appreciate the scope of the country. To all but the most jaded Washington bureaucrat a billion is a big number. China has more than a billion people and their cities reflect the sheer scope of a population number that size. You really don’t get it until you travel 27 miles along a city of more than 35 million people… one city!
I hope you will get a little bit of the flavor of the country from my photos and captions. I plan to go back and explore some more. To my Chinese friends, I say a deep and humble “Thank You ”xie xie” (pronounced ‘sheh sheh’).
Each place we visited has their own web page and the following links take you there:
