2009 China Shanghai

I flew to Shanghai on American Airlines First Class and had a great time. The ticket, which I got with mileage, was worth $18,000. I arrived at night and took a 24 mile taxi ride that only cost $32 USD.

Shanghai is the fastest growing city in China. It is poised to become the financial capital of the world. In 2010 it will host the World Expo and it promises to be an event like no other seen in China.

Perry lives and works there and we saw a lot of the city and the surrounding countryside.

It's a long flight.

Shanghai at night. It isn't as busy as LA at 10pm but it is busier on the sidewalks.

"Hey... wanna buy a baby? Only $100 US." I would have brought him home as a souvenir but he was too big to put in my luggage.

Not bad for 35 million people... huh? The model of Shanghai is built on meter square sections so it can be updated to reflect the state of construction i the city.

This part of the city that abuts the river is called the Bund.

This is a model of the Expo 2010 site. This will be like a World's Fair for Shanghai.

I wonder if this tree has a good memory of the last 400 years.

Flowers are everywhere. I see some greeting cards in my future.

Noodles. I have to learn how to eat noodles so I can have long life on my birthday when I have to eat a bowl of noodles strand by strand without chewing. Boy, that should be a thrilling sight.
