2002 Ground Zero NYC

Everybody who was over the age of birth and alive in 2001 will remember where they were when the Twin Towers were brought down. I was in Greensboro North Carolina at a Holiday Inn. There were 44 of us and nobody could get home. I had a rental car which I kept and drove several of my friends home on my way to Chicago. It was a very strange drive. I spent a week in Chicago before being allowed to fly home.

This is what we are watching... the first tower is struck.

Nobody can believe what we are seeing. A customer was irritated because we were all watching the unfolding event instead of standing by our display tables.

Fast forward six months and we are back on the road doing shows. I take a trip to NYC Ground Zero and find this memorial at Grand Central Station.

The pit. Just to the right of the viewing window is the ramp where I sprained my ankle and was removed from the ramp leading into the pit.
