The Birthday Girls
March 24, 200

Every good web page needs a overarching theme and this one is the Mother lode of themes. It is about enduring friendship. Through  thin and thin, thick and thick, and thick and thin. Spanning continents, marriages, children, grandchildren and all of the things that make the human condition, well, human. If you ever wonder why you were privileged to get up in the morning, perhaps it is because there are people in the world who need you. When you need the answer, stop and look at the photos of this large group of friends. (This page represents almost three hundred years of relationships when you count up the years binding the players.)

Diana and Toni have been friends for more years than either will want to see in print. (That is probably not true but I am bad at math and can't figure out the sum of 2006 less 1966.) They have been celebrating their birthdays (three days apart) together for a many of them. For three days each year they are the same age. Then Diana becomes the Big Sister once again. But age is only significant in cheese, wine and steak. Otherwise, who can tell who's younger? (If you know what's good for you, you will not attempt to answer that question out loud.)

Here are photos from the party. A good time was had by all. (Of course, would you expect anything less when you have Wine, Women and Song?!)

(As usual, click on the little picture to see the big picture.)

Toni and Allan make great hosts.

This is what you miss when you come on time.

(And trust me... the assembled masses killed off this pile of glasses.)

(Two of the best of the genre, if I do say so... and I do.)

(No evening is complete without strings attached.)

Perhaps the last time we will see this view from this website.

Either a rehearsal, audition or performance. Depends upon your POV.

For the life of me, I cannot find my Oboe shot. I know I took it but it disappeared between the camera and the backup disk. Trust me, there is a great oboe player buried here somewhere.

Marc could not let the string section dominate the evening.
